"We Aim to Make the Most Interesting Knives in the World"
Riceknife’s mission statement is: “We Aim to Make the World's Most Interesting Knives,” by reimagining every design aspect of high-quality kitchen knives with boundless passion and extensive industry insight.
Riceknife's founder and designer, Danish Master Chef Jacob Bech, has spent his professional career in both Denmark and Asia, showcasing a distinctive blend of Scandinavian and Oriental influences in his knife design. His story unfolds with a deep connection to nature, which began with his childhood love for creating and bringing joy to others. Despite an uninspiring school experience, his life took a transformative turn at the age of 13 when his teacher arranged a month-long internship at NOMA, the world's best restaurant.
His apprenticeship at Bistro Bohéme in Copenhagen, Denmark, provided a foundation steeped in French culinary artistry. At the age of 18, armed with the title of "Danish Chef" and a repertoire of French and Neo-Nordic culinary skills, he set his sights on Asia. There, amidst an array of new ingredients and innovative cooking techniques like Wok, Currys, soups, and more, Jacob's culinary perspective underwent a profound transformation.
The experience was challenging for the young thirteen-year-old to the extent that he found himself in tears in the bathroom; however, he embraced the challenge, marking the moment he discovered his life's path—a journey of fire and passion. Subsequently, Jacob has worked at various Michelin-starred restaurants and played a pivotal role in opening more than 10 restaurants in Denmark and Asia.
Since 2020, he has devoted himself to a singular goal: creating the world's most interesting knives. This audacious objective propels constant forward momentum, ensuring each Riceknife® knife is a unique masterpiece. Crafted in limited numbers, every design update guarantees the eternal exclusivity of these knives, each accompanied by a numbered certificate.
Jacob Bech personally oversees every aspect, from design to materials sourcing, production, and packaging. The one consistent element is the proprietary "Tactile Damascus steel," renowned as one of the best and hardest knife steels globally. Jacob's quest for the rarest woods and top-notch steels worldwide reinforces his commitment to crafting the world's most interesting knives.
With over 16 years in the industry and experience in both Eastern and Western culinary landscapes, Jacob is uniquely positioned to understand the intricacies of kitchen tools. His discerning eye focuses on enhancing the user experience, ensuring that Riceknife products reflect the approval of years of professional chef experience and the endorsement of successful colleagues in the industry.
The brand's design philosophy aims to inspire a deeper connection with the most essential cooking tool. This connection is evident in the names of the knives and the intricate engravings on their blades, transcending functionality to weave narratives that evoke excitement, curiosity, and a spirit of daring exploration.
Riceknife's ultimate goal is to engage and inspire more people to cook their own food, fostering longer, healthier, and happier lives.
