Tactile Damascus steel is fundamentally different from ordinary Damascus steel. „Tactile“ means you can clearly feel the pattern in the steel.
Tactile Damascus is made by repeatedly folding and forging two steels of different hardness, L442 and L316. Because L442 is a harder stainless steel and L316 a softer one, the Damascus produced by folding them together combines greater flexibility with the hardness of stainless steel.
About the stories and the knives
The story of the Valkyrie knife
The Valkyrie knife is named after the Valkyries, the powerful female figures of Norse mythology. The blade is decorated with intricate laser-engraved runes that symbolise the warrior spirit of the Vikings. The runes translate as “It is better to die in battle than to live in shame”.
It is a sentiment that embodies the hard, fearless spirit of the Vikings. The knife is also a strong reminder to live a brave and honourable life, like the great Viking warriors of the past. The laser-engraved runes, hammered blade and distinctive handle make it a rare collector’s piece.
